JAY — Spruce Mountain High School has announced upcoming events for the weeks of Jan. 16 to 31.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day: In observance of Dr. Martin Luther-King Jr.’s birthday there will be no school in RSU 73 on Monday, Jan. 16.

Mid-term exams: SMHS students will have mid-term exams from Tuesday to Friday, Jan. 17 to 20. An exam schedule was sent home with all students. Exams will be held from 7:45 to 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. If signed permission slips are returned, students may leave after their exams are done. Makeup exams will take place each afternoon. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation if they choose to leave early on these days. Buses will run at the regular times.

Math meet: There will be a math meet Wednesday, Jan. 25, at Fryeburg Academy in Fryeburg.

Second quarter: The end of the second quarter ranking period will end Friday, Jan. 20.

Schoolwide assembly: An assembly will be held Friday, Jan. 27, to honor the Students of the Month, Phoenix Award winners and Department Award winners.

College visits: There are two college trips planned for juniors and seniors. Anyone who would like to go can sign up in the Guidance Office. They will attend Southern Maine Community College on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and Central Maine Community College on Thursday, Feb. 2.
