SAPARS to offer yoga group for survivors
LEWISTON — Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services is offering a free yoga group for survivors of sexual violence.
SAPARS is working with trauma-sensitive yoga instructor Beth Jones to hold a TSY group in Lewiston. Yoga mats and other equipment will be provided.
The group will begin at the end of January and run through mid-March.
Individuals must attend a screening interview prior to the start of the group to make sure the group will be the right experience for them.

Eating healthy on a budget
STRONG — For those who are looking for a way to make healthier meals at home without breaking their budget, the Strong Area Health Center with Maine SNAP-Ed will offer a Teaching 10 Tips nutrition course.
Teaching 10 Tips is a four-class series that teaches participants how to cook healthy and delicious meals while saving money at the grocery store. Students will work with a professional nutritionist from the Healthy Community Coalition and enjoy free food tastings at each class.
Students will also receive a grocery gift card during a grocery store tour as part of the course.
The free classes will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 26, Feb. 2, 9 and 16, at the Foster Memorial Building.
The classes are open to the public, but registration is required because space is limited.

CPR, first aid class Jan. 19
OXFORD — There will be a Heartsaver CPR and First Aid class held at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Advent Christian Church.
In this course, students will learn basic first aid, adult, child and infant C.P.R. and how to use of an AED. On completion of the one-day class, they will received a two-year certification in accordance with the American Heart Association.
This certificate course is accepted for day/child care providers, loggers, guides, teachers and any other non-health care related professions.
Students should call to confirm the date before the class.
Groups may also request to schedule a class at their convenience.
The next class will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18.
Healthcare BLS CPR re-certifications are done as needed one-on-one.

Dental X-ray equipment grant
WINTHROP — Maine Dental Health Outreach Inc. has received an $8,000 grant from the Maine Community Foundation to purchase X-ray equipment for its mobile dental van.
The nonprofit has provided oral health care services to under-served children from a mobile van at central and western Maine schools since 2003.

SMH offering indoor walking program
NORWAY — Stephens Memorial Hospital and the MaineHealth Learning Resource Center are offering an indoor walking program.
The group will meet from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. Tuesdays through April 25 at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in Paris. The program is free, but registration is required.
