Now that the drama of the presidential election is over and there is a new president-elect — Donald Trump — I feel sorry that the “important” people elected to represent the public in Washington, D.C., refused to endorse him.

Bath Iron Works lost the last major ship-building contract to an out-of-state company. Sen. Susan Collins indicated that she would check all the figures to make sure that there had been no hanky-panky. Unlike most of us, she evidently hasn’t learn that if the horse has left the barn, it’s too late to close the door.

Trump has said that he would increase the U.S. Navy. I wonder if and when new bids come up, if Sen. Collins will be invited to participate and recommend BIW? Or will BIW end up as Bath Popsicle Stick Works, employing three people?

Isn’t it sad when representatives cross the line against their party.
