DEAR SUN SPOTS: For the past couple of weeks we here in Leeds have been hearing, as well as seeing, these large and very noisy helicopters. They are gray and are flying very low. Does anyone have an idea who they are? Or who I could contact to find out? Thank you. — Anita, Leeds.
ANSWER: According to the Brunswick Police Department’s Facebook page and the Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point’s Facebook page, the Marines are in Maine from North Carolina for training. CH-53E Super Stallion helicopters were assigned to the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 464, Marine Aircraft Group 29, 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing to conduct cold-weather training. They have been flying between the Brunswick area and the Stephen A. Bean Municipal Airport in Rangeley.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Bless your heart for the service you provide to so many readers. My question to you is, there has been talk about an L.L.Bean warehouse going into the former VIP warehouse on Lexington Street in Lewiston. Is there any word as to when this is going to open and how one applies for a job at this location prior to them opening? — No name, no town.
ANSWER: According to reports, the new facility in Lewiston will transition in phases starting this spring. Sun Spots would guess that job openings will be posted around that time. There are supposed to be 100 new jobs between both the Brunswick and Lewiston facilities. L.L.Bean posts its job openings at llbeancareers.com. You can also call 207-552-7600 or 877-255-2326 to inquire. For inquiries about seasonal opportunities, you can email [email protected] and for all other job inquiries you can email [email protected].
DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is my second request for this information. In the “Looking Back 100 Years Ago” section of the Sun Journal a couple of months ago was a snippet about an electric train that ran from Portland to Lewiston or Auburn. I would like more information about this, especially how the electricity was supplied to the train. Thank you.— Steve Swan, Dixfield.
