LOVELL — The Delta Masonic Lodge held its second annual spaghetti supper on Aug. 13, supporting Sunshine Backpack Food Program in School Administrative District 72.

There currently 65 children from Fryeburg, Brownfield and Lovell signed up for the program, an increase from 45 children last year.

Each backpack contained shelf-stable foods — foods that do not require cooking, but are nutritionally based. The backpacks included breakfast, lunch and a snack for each weekend day.

In previous years, $300 provided food for a student, and that means 110 days that the child will not be hungry.

The money received from the supper was submitted to the Masonic Charitable Foundation for a matching grant which was approved, and on Jan. 5, a check was presented to Christine Cunningham from Master Bob Drew of Delta Lodge for $720.

This year’s annual spaghetti supper will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.
