1943 – 2017

LEWISTON — Gerald N. Moulin, 73, of Moulin Lane, Turner, died Friday, Jan. 27, at Marshwood Center nursing facility after a long illness, with his loving family at his side.

He was born in New Auburn on Jan. 30, 1943, a son of the late George (Noel) and Yvette (Potvin) Moulin. He was educated at St. Louis School and graduated from Edward Little High School, Class of 1961. He also later graduated from Husson College in Bangor in 1970. Gerald proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the Army Reserve in the Medical Corps as a cook.

Gerald married the former Joyce Caron in 1968. After several years in Auburn and Bangor, they settled in 1974 in Turner on Moulin Lane and they have been there ever since. He was a hardworking man, working for the U.S. Postal Service, delivering mail in the New Auburn area for several years, finally retiring on City 12 in Old Auburn. He also owned the family businesses with his wife, Joyce — Moulin’s Mobile Home Park for over 40 years, and WedgeWood Crafts since 1988. As co-proprietor of the latter, he attended craft shows in the state of Maine from as far north as Fort Kent to as far south as South Berwick.

Gerald was an original member of St. Philip’s Church, where he also taught CCD. He was also a member of the Society of Southern Maine Craftsmen. He served on the Board of Appeals for the town of Turner, of which he was chairman for several years. He loved the outdoors, working in his garden and on his lawn, in which he took great pride. He also enjoyed chopping and burning wood; you were never cold in his house. Most of all, he just enjoyed his family and relaxing with a cold beer.

He leaves his wife of 47 years, Joyce Moulin of Turner; his daughter, Karen Moulin and her husband, Peter Wattles, of Walpole, Mass.; a son, Aaron Moulin and his wife, Dorothy Deák, of Ashland, Mass.; and his two grandchildren, André and Colette Moulin.

He was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Louise Moulin Dorais.

The family would like to thank the staff on M-4 at CMMC and the staff at Marshwood Center for the exceptional care given to Gerald in his last days.
