The annual meeting of Hill Crest Hospital Association was held at the building on Prospect Hill, Auburn, Wednesday, with a large attendance of the officers and members. While this is ostensibly a private hospital, it is in reality a public institution as patients are taken from all of the State. No one in need of assistance is ever refused admittance here, and during the past year not less than $383 worth of free work has been done at Hill Crest. Forty-seven cases have been cared for and of these six were serious surgical operations.

Auburn voters cast their ballots for four seats Nov. 8 and apparently elected four Democratic candidates. Republican Peter T. Snowe, who finished a close fifth, requested a recount. When that ended, he had an agreed count of 3,772 votes to 3,773 for Rep. Romeo Laberge, D, and the validity of seven ballots was in dispute, three apparently for Laberge and four apparently for Snowe. Unable to reach a decision or its own, the House Election Committee sent the disputed ballots to the Maine Supreme Court for a ruling.

The music program at Sabattus Elementary School is constantly growing and changing to meet the expanding needs of all students. The school’s music instructor, Cindy Brown, teaches general music classes for grades K-6. All grades are introduced to different types of music. The classes focus on the basics, such as developing an ear for melody and finding a steady beat, Children are also shown different instruments and must identify them by sight. As they get older they start learning to identify instruments by sound only.
