SUMNER — Albert “Al” Everest Verrill Jr., 62, of Sumner passed away at his home Saturday, Jan. 28, following a struggle with small-cell cancer.

He was born in Portland on Dec. 16, 1954, the son of Albert Sr. and Mildred Pauline Cavens Verrill.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.

Al worked for many years in construction, operating a bucket loader and driving trucks.

He enjoyed mechanical work, fishing, family time, being a husband, father and grandpa.

He is survived by his wife, Sheila, whom he married Sept. 16, 1983; his children, Albert Verrill, Roger Verrill, Tabatha Jones and Barbara Verrill; four granddaughters; two grandsons; and several brothers and sisters.

He was predeceased by his parents and two brothers.
