1943 – 2016

WINTHROP — Lynda Joan Mazzola, 73, of Winthrop passed away on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Beverly Hills, Clif., on Dec. 28, 1943, she was one of three children to the late Louis and Henrietta Hoyt, and stepdaughter of the late, Julia Hoyt.

Lynda began her career as a special education teacher and continued to work with children and adults with disabilities for more than 50 years, eventually opening her own speech therapy private practice in Maine. Those who had the honor and privilege of working with Lynda know that she devoted her life to her clients and was an endless advocate for children with special needs. She impacted the lives of all those who knew her and her legacy will live on forever in the hearts and souls of all the children and families she worked with.

The list of people whose lives have been touched by Lynda is endless, but she will especially be missed by her husband, John Mazzola of Leeds; her brothers, Robert and Stuart Hoyt; her daughter, Lisa Mazzola of Fresno, Calif.; her daughter, Laura Mazzola of North Berwick; and her pride and joy, her three grandchildren, Haley, Xavier and Cecelia. Lynda was a loving and selfless mother and grandmother. She will be remembered for her endless support, her kindness, her generosity, and her beautiful smile that could light up any room.
