RUMFORD — The primary charity cause for the Rumford Eagles No. 1248 is the Breast Cancer Coalition of Maine.
The organization has raised $10,000-$12,000 over the last couple of years for that cause, noted Trustee David Magoon.
He said the Eagles will host their first Valentine’s Dance from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11, at the club on Rumford Avenue. The fundraiser will feature the band Backlash.
The cost will be free to the membership and $5 for guests. And, as is the tradition, they will present trophies to the top three dance competitors.
There will also be 50/50, raffles, and a Chinese auction from Feb. 9 to 11 in the bingo hall, with the drawing at 9 p.m. on Feb. 11 in the social room. The Eagles seek donations for the auction.
Magoon said the Grand Aerie of the Eagles will match the monies raised by Eagles No. 1248.
Magoon noted that 100 percent of the proceeds raised by the Eagles for the Breast Cancer Coalition of Maine goes directly to people battling breast cancer. None of those monies are spent on administrative costs of that group.
