PORTLAND — A Minot man was sent to federal prison on drug and weapons crimes Tuesday, nearly three years after a home invasion at his house on Garfield Road.

Ross Tardif, 30, was sentenced in U.S. District Court to 7½ years in prison. He pleaded guilty last summer to possession with intent to distribute oxycodone and cocaine, and possessing a firearm in connection with drug trafficking.

In August 2014, police responded to a 911 call of a home invasion at Tardif’s home. While Tardif was not home during the invasion, three men who were inside his house were robbed and beaten in the attack.

While investigating, police discovered over 375 grams of cocaine, over 650 oxycodone pills, and over 14 kilograms of marijuana in the house. Police said Tardif arrived home after the drugs were seized and admitted to being involved in distributing those drugs.

Further investigation revealed that Tardif had been obtaining the drugs in New York since at least 2012 and distributing them in the Lewiston-Auburn area. Tardif also purchased a firearm to protect his drug-distribution activities, according to court records.

Three people, two from Boston and one from Augusta, were ultimately charged in the home invasion.

The investigation was conducted by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration; the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the Maine State Police.
