JAY — There will be plenty of snow for the 5th Annual Spruce Mountain Sled-In on Saturday.

The Public Works crew started stockpiling it for the sledding area in January. Storms this week have added more.

The sled-in will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the French Falls Recreation Area off French Falls Lane across from Spruce Mountain High School.

People can ride in on snowmobiles or drive in and park vehicles nearby.

Town Manager Shiloh LaFreniere said attendees should plan to bring sleds, snowshoes and ice skates. Some snowshoes will be provided by Spruce Mountain High School, while skates will be borrowed from the Wilton Recreation Department.

Sleigh rides, snowshoe races, ice-skating, snow-sculpting contests and guided snowshoe walks will be among the activities offered. There will be a large bonfire and a warming tent. Several local nonprofits will sell food in the warming tent.
