PARIS — Oxford County commissioners voted Feb. 7 to set the 2017 county tax commitment at $5.84 million, an increase of nearly 3 percent over the previous year, County Administrator Scott Cole said.
Cole said the countywide taxable value has increased by $70.05 million, a 1 percent increase from 2016.
The town with the largest increase in valuation was Newry. It jumped from $462.7 million to $481.6 million, a difference of $18.9 million.
Otisfield’s valuation increased $9.8 million, from $278.85 million to $288.65 million.
Rumford had the largest decrease in valuation. It dropped from $535.85 million to $528.8 million, a difference of $7.05 million.
Cole said the county tax includes $1.3 million for the county jail.
