WEST PARIS — Jean C. Nasatowicz, 86, of Kimball Avenue in Mexico, joined the angels in heaven on Sunday, Feb. 5. She passed away at Ledgeview Living Center in West Paris following a long illness.

She was born in Roxbury, on Aug. 12, 1930, a daughter of Clarence L. and Evelyn (Knapp) Canwell.

Jean was educated in Roxbury schools and was a graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1947.

She married Joseph Nasatowicz on April 10, 1948; together, they celebrated 65 years of marriage; he passed away in 2013.

Jean was employed at Mammoth Mart for several years and worked for 17 years as office manager at Western Maine Transportation until her retirement in 1993. She then devoted her time to volunteer work at Meroby Elementary School.

She was a communicant of Parish of the Holy Savior.

Jean and her husband Joe loved to square dance and traveled extensively.

She loved knitting, baking, reading, shopping, collecting angels and visiting with friends at McDonald’s.

Jean was an avid Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan.

She truly loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and enjoyed going to their school functions and sporting events. Most of all, Jean will be remembered for the love she had for her family and friends.

Surviving are her children, Brenda Bisson and husband, Ed, of West Bath, Andrea Bernard and husband, John, of Rumford and Kevin Nasatowicz and wife, Carol, of Rumford; a brother, Rodney Canwell and wife, Susan, of Mexico; seven grandchildren, Brooke Hubner and husband, Devon, David Bisson, Jared Bernard, Kaly Rumery and husband, Shawn, Allison Nasatowicz, Heather Hussey, and Michelle Diaz; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Joseph; and two brothers, Glendon Canwell and Linwood Canwell.
