AUBURN — Minnie H. Pond, 95, formerly of Lewiston, died Thursday, Feb. 9, at Bolster Heights Residential Care Facility in Auburn, where she had been a resident for the past two years.
Born in Gardiner on June 4, 1921, she was the daughter of John C. and Kathleen J. Pratt Malcolm. Educated locally, she worked in the area shoe industry for many years. She had a generous spirit, was always helping others, and was loved by every child who met her. She enjoyed cooking for her loved ones, had boundless energy, and was always busy with one task or another.
She will be remembered as a woman who loved her family and her Lord.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Pond and Nancy Pond Lajoie; a sister, Madolyn Upton; seven grandchildren, Robert Lajoie, Timothy Lajoie, Melissa Childs, Rebecca Yates, Roberta Curtis, Michael Pond and Catherine Harrison; nine great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Franklin Pond Jr.; three brothers, Winfield, Cony and Emery Malcolm; and two sisters, Beatrice Jones and Theo Turcotte.
