LEWISTON — Joseph F. Camillo Sr., born in Bridgeport, Conn., Dec. 16, 1921, beloved husband of the late Agnes V. Szobota Camillo for 61 years, passed peacefully into eternal rest Saturday, Feb. 11. He was surrounded by his loving family in his home in Lewiston.

Dad served as a U.S. Army sergeant during World War II in the European Campaign. Proud to be a veteran, Dad loved to share his stories and memories, and wore his WWII veteran cap everywhere he went.

Dad enjoyed his work as a tool and die maker for 45 years. He loved family gatherings, lobster, playing cards, Chinese checkers, fishing and the simple pleasure of basking in the sun on a warm day. His favorite day was one with “not a cloud in the sky.” His love of music was passed on to his family and he supported many years of lessons. He was kind and appreciative of his family and all of his caregivers.

He is survived by his son, Joseph Camillo Jr. and wife, Rose Ann; daughters, Joyce Camillo Gray and husband, Harry, and Marie Camillo Reimensnyder and husband, Tim; grandchildren, Christopher Camillo, Sarah Camillo Lekas, Nathan and Louis Reimensnyder; and great-grandchildren, Daxos and Adeleine Lekas.

Many thanks to Helping Hands, Sylvia (caregiver), Phil (SEARCH volunteer), Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice, and Sky-Hy Adult Day Center for their kindness and care.

Joseph F. Camillo Sr.
