NEWRY — Nancy J. Wight, 78, of Newry, passed away Saturday, Feb. 11, at home.

Nancy was born Dec. 17, 1938, in Lincoln, N.H., to Murial G. Jean and Harold O. Hussey. She was raised by Benjamin Blay. Nancy grew up in Hanover and was educated in Rumford schools, where she was a member of the marching band. She spent many years as a housewife, before working at Maine Line Products and then the Bethel Citizen.

She was a big supporter in the Telstar Football Boosters, as well as a former president of the Newry Mothers Club. She served as a ballot clerk in Newry for many years. Nancy enjoyed watching football, NASCAR and reading. She also enjoyed spending winters at her second home in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Nancy, “Nana” to most, is survived by her husband of 60 years, John M. Wight; sisters, Sandra Savage, Jan Doten, and Judy Karkheck; children, Michael J. Wight, Bradley S. and wife, Brenda Wight, Terri Littlehale, and Loretta and husband, Ed Powers; grandchildren, Jason and Sarah Berry, Dani and Tom Welch, Mandy Berry, Staci and Rocco St. Clair, Katie and Karyn Wight, Kurt and Cindy Wight, and Kevin and Victoria Wight; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Payton and Gage Berry, Jazmyn Littlehale, Trevor and Jacob St. Clair, McKinley Welch, Amelia and Cody Wight and Addison Wight.

She was predeceased by her parents; daughter, Gloria Ann Wight; sisters, Vivian Simoneau and Lorraine York; and brothers, Jeffery Hussey and Harold Hussey Jr.
