LEWISTON — William C. Mackie, 62, of Pond Road, passed away suddenly on Thursday, Feb. 9. William was more commonly known as Will, Wink or Bill.

He was born Feb. 27, 1954, the first son of William and Laurel Woodbury Mackie. He was raised in Ferry Village, South Portland.

In his early years, Wink was a commercial fisherman out of Portland and then worked at Bath Iron Works in the 1990s. He became a heavy equipment mechanic for Shaw Brothers and Troiano Waste. He worked as a mechanic for Handyman Equipment Rental and was currently working in his retirement years at Bourque’s Market meat counter in Lewiston.

In December 2006, he married “the girl next door,” Tina Wing Remour. They lived in South Portland for several years before buying a home in Lewiston in 2014. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, watching wildlife, beachcombing for sea glass treasures, making stained-glass art, gardening and flowers.

Will is survived by his wife, Tina; daughter, Diana Morrill and husband, Kendall, of Dexter; two sisters, Dian Joyce and husband, Mike, of Inverness, Fla., Peggy Johns and husband, George of Gorham; four brothers, James and his wife, Loretta, of South Portland, Michael of Portland, Russell of Gorham, Frank and wife, Elizabeth, of North Waterboro; five grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends old and new.
