Fryeburg Rec ice-fishing derby

FRYEBURG — Fryeburg Recreation will host its seventh annual fishing derby from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, March 4 and 5, in the lower bay of Kezar Lake. 

Registration made by Friday, March 3, will cost $30 for both days, and the fisherman will be entered into a drawing for a sporting goods gift card. Registration at the lake will cost $20 per day. Children will fish for free. All registrants will be eligible for door prizes.

The children’s casting contest will be held at 11 a.m. each day. 

All participants must register at registration table located on ice at Buddy Carriers on Lower Bay. Registration will open at 5 a.m. 

Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded, including $700 for the grand prize; grand prize winners do not need to be present to win.

Raffle and door prizes to be given out at 4 p.m. Sunday; winners of those must pick up prizes during the award ceremony.

Cary Library Winter Book Sale

WAYNE — The Cary Memorial Library Winter Book Sale will run March 4 to 11 at the Williams House, 14 Old Winthrop Road.

This weeklong sale is one of the library’s two giant, annual sales, with four rooms filled from floor to ceiling with gently used books along with CDs and DVDs. Most books, DVDs and CDs will be priced at $1 or less. Children’s DVDs and CDs will be sold for 50 cents each.

The sale hours will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 4; 10 a.m. to noon Monday, March 6; 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, March 7 to 9; and from 9 a.m. 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11. 

There will be a $2-per-bag sale will be held on the last day of the sale, March 11.

Jones Band performing Saturdays in March 

BUCKFIELD — Jones Dance Band will perform from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, March 4, 11, 18 and 25, at the Masonic Hall, 5 High St.

Community Awakening Holistic Fair

LEWISTON — The psychic and healing fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant St.

The event will include 3D aura photography, jewelry, animal communicators, a wide assortment of gems, crystals and minerals, energy healing, medium readings, tarot card readings, incense, spiritual items and door prizes.

Admission will be $5, and most workshops are included with the price of admission to the fair.

Paint Nite for Class of 2020

BUCKFIELD — Buckfield Junior Senior High School Class of 2020 will have a Paint Nite fundraiser at 7 p.m. Friday, March 24. 

Participants will paint a spring scene, a cherry blossom with a butterfly. 

Tickets are $35 each and include all materials. They must be purchased in advance. Refreshments will be available to purchase.
