LEWISTON — Elaine J. Walker, 86, of Auburn passed away Monday, Feb. 20, at the Marshwood Center after suffering from dementia for several years.

She was born in Auburn on Feb. 22, 1930, a daughter of the late Clayton and Ruth (Crooker) Boothby. She attended schools in Auburn, graduating from Edward Little High School with the Class of 1948. She married the love of her life, Harry Walker, on July 25, 1948, at the West Auburn Church. Together they worked and raised their two young daughters in Auburn.

While raising her family, she worked in the Auburn school lunch program for over 20 years. Jean enjoyed reading, going to her Thursday girls’ group and gardening with her husband.

She is survived by her husband of over 68 years, Harry Walker; her daughter, Joline Walker and husband, Jeffrey Brushwein, of Florida; her sister, Beverly Bahara of Massachusetts; son-in-law, Tim Harris of Warren; and several nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Luann Walker Harris, who passed away Sept. 21, 2006.

The family would like to thank the staff at Marshwood Center, who took such loving care of her throughout her illness.
