LEWISTON — Lucy Frenette won the 2016 Catholic Citizenship Essay Contest and $75.

Thirty-nine eighth-graders from Saint Dominic Academy participated. The theme The Importance of Religious Freedom.

Frenette’s essay will be sent to Maine State Council for judging against other eighth-graders throughout the state. If she wins, she will receive $100 and her essay will be sent to the Supreme Council. If she wins there, she will receive $300.

The local contest was sponsored by Holy Family Council 10019, Knights of Columbus.
