LEWISTON — Rita (Leblond) Dube, 90, passed away peacefully at home with her loving family by her side on Monday, March 6.

She was born in New Auburn on July 31, 1926, the daughter of the late Armand and Gaetane (Roy) Leblond.

Rita was a devout Catholic and a parishioner at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. She was a seamstress in the shoe industry for many years and also designed custom drapery. On Nov. 10, 1945, she married the love of her life, Lucien S. Dube, and they shared a loving marriage of 57 years until his passing in 2002. Rita had a love of reading, the Daily Jumble and counted cross-stitch, and was always knitting hats and mittens to donate to those in need. Her routine would often consist of mending clothing for the family and preparing meals, especially her famous Tuesday lunch of homemade soup and creton. It was often said that “everything was better at Memere’s.”

Rita is survived by her two sons, Paul Dube, and Daniel Dube and his wife, Debra (Talarico); her two daughters, Denise Dube, and Louise and her husband, Jerry Richard; her two brothers, Normand Leblond and his wife, Christa, of Germany, and Robert Leblond and his wife, Linda, of Oregon; her seven grandchildren, Sarah and her husband, Jared, Jason and his wife, Haley, Oneica and her husband, Jimmy, Tania and her husband, Josh, Erika and her significant other, Tom, Stephanie and her husband, Shaun, and Anthony; her 11 great-grandchildren, Jaden, Anna, Ellie, Mekae, Corbin, Ryah, Ridley, Griffin, Kayden, Spencer and Amethyst; and many nieces and nephews.

Rita’s family would like to thank the staff of Beacon Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

Friends and family are invited to share their memories and offer their condolences by visiting Rita’s online guest book at www.thefortingrouplewiston.com.
