BRUNSWICK — Donald R. Austin, 90, passed away peacefully Monday, March 8, at his home in Brunswick.

He was born in Auburn on Aug. 8, 1926, a son of the late Irving Sr. and Annie (White) Austin.

Donald graduated from Brunswick High School in 1943. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands off the coast of Alaska.

Donald married the love of his life, Claire B. (Risska) on Aug. 21, 1948, and they shared a loving marriage of 67 years, until her passing in 2016. He was a mason contractor and worked for himself. He later went to work at the Brunswick Naval Air base as a mason.

He was a member of the Brunswick Masonic Lodge No. 191. In his spare time, he loved the outdoors, enjoying gardening and hunting. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Donald is survived by his two sons, Robert and his wife, Karen, of Norway and James of Brunswick; his daughter, Barbara of Brunswick; his grandchildren, Jeffrey and his wife, Stacy Austin, of New Hampshire, and Lauren and her husband, Benjamin Barr, of New Hampshire; his great-grandchildren, Cooper James Austin and Remington Otis Barr.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife; and his brothers, Irving Austin and Blaine Austin.
