NORTH YARMOUTH (WGME) — A Saturday morning fire destroyed a building behind a home in North Yarmouth.
The homeowner reported the fire around 10:20 a.m. Saturday at 150 Royal Road, North Yarmouth Fire Chief Greg Payson said. Withe flames seen coming out of the building when firefighters arrived, the second alarm brought support from several surrounding communities.
The 24-foot by 24-foot building was not far from another building, but firefighters were able to keep the fire limited to the structure. Water was hauled to the scene from a dry hydrant, and between 10,000 and 12,000 gallons was needed to put the fire out.
Firefighters stayed on scene for more than an hour. No one was injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
