Mechanic Falls Historical Society meeting

MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Historical Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, at the Anglican Church, 64 Elm St.

Plans are underway to organize with the Anglican Church members a community supper in May, a yard sale for the spring amd summer and a quilt show on Mechanic Falls Community Day in June.

The historical society would also like to acquire the video recording talents of someone in the area. Those interested should contact 207-345-3134 or nepesons@myfairpoint.net.

Any person who seeks to join the Society in preserving the documents and artifacts of this community as well suggesting ideas of further community involvement is welcome to attend any meeting.

Pickwick Club reading ‘Barnaby Rudge’

AUBURN — The Pickwick Club, Maine’s Dickens (and more) reading and discussion group, will meet at the Auburn Public Library on Saturday, April 22, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

This month’s selection will be Chapters 1 to 36 of “Barnaby Rudge.” Dick York will moderate.

Cribbage league lists winners

LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners on March 2 were, first place; Moe Fournier and Dwight Webb; second, Jim Burgess and Ike LeCompte; third, Val Asselin and Terry Lefebvre; fourth, Don Haley and Don Maillette; and, fifth, Val Madore and Alan Treworgy.

Winners on March 9 were, first, Dennis Gosselin and Carol Laplante; second, Claudette Grandmasion and Sandra Oliver; third, Bob Allen and Marie Madore; fourth, Terry Lefebvre and Judy Sirois; and, fifth, Ron Maheux and Andrea Metayer.

The Seniors play on Thursdays at the Lewiston Memorial Armory.
