AUBURN — Theresa Fernande Daignault, 93, of Auburn was called to her heavenly home Friday, March 17, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born May 19, 1923, in Portland, a daughter of the late Fernand and Gratia (Vandal) Martin. Theresa attended local schools, graduating from Edward Little High School, Class of 1941. She served in the U.S. Navy, working at the Pentagon, in Washington, D.C. She received an honorable discharge in 1945. Following her discharge, Theresa married her childhood sweetheart, Peter Daignault, on April 28, 1945. They celebrated their 71st anniversary last year. Theresa was a devoted wife and mother who was dearly loved by her three children.

Theresa worked with her husband, Peter, in their ministry to members of the congregation at Eastgate Christian Fellowship of New Gloucester. Theresa also performed volunteer work at Central Maine Medical Center. In earlier years, she and her husband enjoyed vacations in Florida and Wells Beach, where they loved to spend time at the beach. Theresa also found great enjoyment in spoiling her pets, particularly her Shih Tzu named Mia.

Theresa is survived by her three daughters, Suzanne M. Roy of Auburn, Louise Goodridge and husband, Peter, of Gray, Theresa McCabe and husband, David, of Gray; seven grandchildren, Joline Fournier, Rick Roy, Jill Goodridge, Natalie Goodridge, Jacob McCabe, Anna Legere and Samuel McCabe Johnson; and eight great-grandchildren.

Theresa was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Peter; and her sister, Martine Begert.
