The Lewiston and Auburn Rotary Club plighted itself Tuesday to back up the National Guard. Never has firmer purpose been shown in any gathering of civilians in this community than at the luncheon-session of this club. The deep feelings are indeed stirring and a patriotic sentiment for national integrity is growing. Fifty members sat at the tables. At each plate was a tiny gold flag for the coat button-hole.

Dogs chasing deer seem to be creating a more serious situation this spring than in some former years, according to Game Warden Donis Wheaton of Hebron, and the warden gave warning that owners can expect court action. During the winter months the wardens were kept busy in the areas where there were concentrations of deer, but that now the packs of dogs are running wild and Wheaton said he feels that dog owners do not realize their pets are chasing deer.

Lost Valley in Auburn may not have any snow left by April 11, but it will probably be the busiest spot in town anyway. The entire city is being invited to a party to honor local Olympians Julie and Rob Parisien, with ceremonies set to start at 10 a.m. The Parisien siblings competed at last month’s Winter Olympics in France, where Julie was edged out of the medals in the women’s and giant slaloms (fourth and fifth places, respectively) and Rob finished a respectable 20th in the giant slalom just 2.54 seconds behind gold medalist Alberto Tomba of Italy.
