WILTON — The Wilton Fish & Game Association will offer a basic hand gun training for people ages 21 and older, under the instruction of Franklin County Sheriff Scott Nichols.
Participating students will undergo a four-hour training from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, April 29, at Wilton Fish & Game, on Route 2. Another class is scheduled for Saturday, May 13.
Each participant will receive a certificate of training from the Sheriff’s office. This certificate is recognized by the state as proof of required training in order to obtain a concealed handgun permit.
This is an opportunity to learn safe gun practices. Students must bring their own unloaded hand gun in a holster with at least 50 rounds of ammunition. They should also bring hearing and eye protection. Magnums are not allowed on the indoor range.
Class size is limited to 10 students so that each student has adequate instruction. Pre-registration and payment of $20 is required by two weeks prior to the class. Payment may be sent to the Wilton Fish & Game, P.O. Box 339, Wilton, ME 04294.
