AUBURN — Get that old mattress ready.

The city is offering a bulky waste program this year to allow people to dispose of materials not normally picked up during weekly city collections. That includes furniture, rugs, mattresses and box springs, tires, metal and propane tanks.

The bulky waste pickup will take place May 1-11.

Auburn Public Services crews will collect materials at normal collection points, according to a news release. All waste must be at the roadside by 7 a.m on the date that collection begins for the specific area.

Crews will remove waste on a street-by-street basis and will not return to a street once waste material has been removed. No material may be placed curbside until April 30.
