OTISFIELD — The Board of Selectmen will hear an update on the ongoing Pleasant Lake Dam project at its meeting Wednesday, April 5.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Town Office on Route 121.
Last year, Otisfield and Casco approved spending $250,000 each to replace the failing dam. A cofferdam — a watertight enclosure pumped dry so the dam could be built below the water line — was placed on the south side of Route 121.
Warm temperatures and snow buildup resulted in rising water levels and flooded camp properties. The rising water levels, coupled with the late start of the construction, caused the project to go overbudget by about $38,000 for each town.
Otisfield will pay its share of the overrun from the $250,000 bond, $5,000 from the contingency fund and $10,000 the Pleasant Lake and Parker Pond Association donated to each town for the overrun.
Other items on the agenda include:
• Signing tax abatement for Craig B. Adams;
• Discussion with Androscoggin Valley Council of Governments member Becky Secrest on future recycling options;
• Discussion with Bill Sprague on the ATV Club; and
• Discussion on a municipal warrant for unlicensed dogs.
