LEWISTON — Lois Hinckley, 83, passed away Friday, March 31, at Marshwood Center, where she had been a patient since 2011.

She was born Jan. 18, 1934, in Pittston, a daughter of Francis and Beatrice Crocker Hinckley. Lois attended Pittston schools and graduated from Gardiner High School and also attended Gates Business School in Augusta.

She worked for the state of Maine before moving to Florida and then to Nashville, Tenn., where she worked for Park Avenue Baptist Church for over 26 years. She moved back to Maine in 1994, where she worked at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church in Lewiston. Lois retired in 2009.

She attended Thomas Memorial Baptist Church faithfully until her illness. Lois enjoyed watching Red Sox games and “Wheel of Fortune” before her illness. She enjoyed going for walks and shopping. She also liked to play Scrabble and dominoes with her family as well as doing crossword puzzles.

Lois is survived by two sisters, Virginia (Raymond) Gero of Pittston and Helen (Arthur) Hughes of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; brothers, Francis, Donald, Edward and Keith Hinckley; and two sisters, Beverly Marsh and Cora Oakes.

The family would like to send a special thank-you to the staff at Marshwood Center for their excellent care of Lois during these past few years.
