AUGUSTA — Fourteen Maine community college students have been named to the 2017 All-Maine Academic Team for two-year colleges.

The students were honored at a ceremony in Augusta, hosted by the Maine Community College System board of trustees. The two Central Maine Community College students receiving the award, which includes a $500 scholarship, are Misty Edgecomb of Auburn and Melissa Potter of Lewiston.

Currently a General Studies student who has earned high honors and president’s honors, Edgecomb plans to complete a degree in business administration and management at CMCC, and then transfer to a four-year college to study human physiology. Edgecomb is the owner of M-E Massage Therapy of Lewiston.

Potter earned a certificate in culinary arts last spring, and will complete an associate degree in restaurant management in May. A high honors student in both programs, Potter was honored last December as the College for ME Androscoggin Student of the Year.

The All-Maine Academic Team is a program of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year colleges. Students are nominated and selected for the team by their college based on outstanding academic achievement, leadership and service.
