AUBURN — The Senior College at University of Southern Maine Lewiston-Auburn College and the Auburn Public Library continue the Curious Minds series, with a lecture by David Bernier on the musical genius of The Beatles.

This free program, titled “The Beatles Songbook,” will take place at 2 p.m., April 18, in the Androscoggin Community Room, at the Auburn Public Library.

Rolling Stone magazine says that no band has influenced pop culture the way the Beatles have. During the week of April 4, 1964, the Beatles held the first five slots on the Billboard Singles chart. They went on to sell more than a billion records.

Bernier will take a closer look at some Beatles songs and will share insight into the Lennon-McCartney songwriting process.

Every spring, the Senior College and the Auburn Public Library partner to bring a free lecture series to the community. The lectures cover a variety of topics and run on a weekly basis throughout the months of April and May.

The Auburn Public Library is at 49 Spring St. in Auburn.
