RUMFORD — Mountain Valley High School announces that Liza White has been selected as the D.A.R. Good Citizen for the Class of 2017. White is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roger White of Rumford.

The D.A.R. candidate is selected by the principal based on the following criteria:

• Dependability, which includes truthfulness, loyalty, and punctuality;

• service, which includes cooperation, courtesy, and consideration of others;

• leadership, which includes personality, self-control, ability to assume responsibility; and

• patriotism, which includes unselfish interest in family, school, community and nation.

As Mountain Valley High School’s candidate, White is qualified to compete in division and national competition for scholarships. At MVHS, she is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Peer Helpers, and is a class officer. She has won many classroom awards throughout her high school career and has attended several leadership conferences. She has also challenged herself academically by taking all honors and advanced placement classes. White also played in three varsity sports during her four years of high school: field hockey, basketball and softball.
