Coach: Steve Lancaster (First year)
Class: A; Conference: KVAC
Last year’s record: 2-14.
Returning athletes: Seniors — Miles Pelletier (P/3B), Alex Philbrick (SS), David McDonald (2B), Corey Rogers (P/1B)); Junior — Ethan Andrews (C).
Key losses: Ryan Pratt, Thomas Wing.
Promising newcomers: None.
Season outlook: Lancaster returns to his alma mater after coaching JV at Spruce Mountain last year. With a lot of varsity experience back, he’s optimistic about the Cougars being a surprise in the KVAC. Pelletier will anchor the staff, with Rogers expected to provide mound support. Philbrick and McDonald are a solid double play combination, and Andrews has a strong arm behind the plate to control the running game. The offense is still a work in progress, but Lancaster is hoping to see improvement with hard work in the preseason.
