Coach: Chip Smith (third year)
Class: D South; Conference: East West Conference
Returning athletes: Seniors — Natalie Brooks, Celia Philbrick, Haley Morrell; Juniors — Sydney Royce, Natasha Haley.
Key losses: Michaela Shorey, Blayke Morin, Maddison Egan.
Promising newcomers: Sophomores — Brooke Egan, Amber Morrill, Olivia Hall, Mary Paige Swiney.
Season outlook: Smith said his team will grow as the season grows. And the Lakers will have plenty of room to do so with a whole new pitching staff. They expect to be sound defensively, which should help the pitchers, as well as solid hitting. The Lakers have to start off against defending Class D state champ Richmond, and Smith doesn’t expect to get on the field much before the opener after all the snow the town got this winter.
