WILTON — A Jay woman faces a charge of theft by unauthorized use of a motor vehicle after police say she took a vehicle Friday without permission.
Brittany M. Dakin, 18, of Jay, was arrested Friday evening in Farmington after she took the vehicle from a home on Prospect Street, Wilton police officer Brian Lynch read from the report.
The vehicle was inside the garage and the keys inside the home, he said. Apparently, Dakin is friends with the owner whose relative came home and reported the vehicle stolen.
A Farmington police officer stopped the vehicle on Main Street in Farmington near Horn’s Corner, he said.
Wilton Police Sgt. Chad Abbott went over and arrested her.
Dakin remained at Franklin County Detention Center Monday morning. Bail was set at $350, according to a jail officer.
