WILTON — Wilton police continue to look for a man who tried to push his way in to a Birch Street apartment Saturday evening after throwing a bag of marijuana at the resident.

The man appeared at an apartment on the corner of Depot and Birch streets about 6 p.m. Saturday, Wilton officer Brian Lynch said.

When a woman answered her door, the man asked to see her husband or fiance. She felt uncomfortable and did not let him in, Lynch said.

The man then threw the marijuana at her and tried to push the door open. The woman was able to get the door closed. The man took off on foot on Depot Street.

Although it was reported he was heading towards Main Street, Lynch said he came down Depot from Main and another officer came up Depot from Route 2. Neither officer saw the man.

The man was described as a white male in his mid-twenties about 5-feet, 5-inches tall, skinny and with curly dark hair.  At the time he was wearing brown pants and a blue sweatshirt without a hood.

Police say he may have been trying to find out if the woman was home alone when he asked to see her husband.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Wilton Police Department at 645-3876.
