AUBURN — Norma Curtis Goddard, 88, of Auburn passed away on Wednesday, March 22, of multiple myeloma. The disease had slowed her down, but friends and family were saddened by her rapid decline since January. She spent her last week at Clover Manor, in the kind care of its staff and that of Androscoggin Hospice.

Norma was born on July 21, 1928, in Portland, a daughter of Lillian (Theriault) and Forrest Curtis, and stepdaughter of Lydia (Howard) Curtis. She attended school in Lisbon Falls and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1947. She was an active member of the Reunion Committee, looking forward to the 70th reunion on Aug. 5.

She married Donald Goddard on Nov. 30, 1952, and together they raised her son, Bruce, and their daughter, Dawn. In the 1970s, Norma and Don owned and operated Bear Pond Park and Campground in Turner.

Norma worked at J.C.Penney when her children were young and again after her divorce from Don. She was a member of Ruth Rebekah Lodge, First Auburn Senior Citizens, Lewiston Singles Club and the Barker Mill Arms Tenants Association.

First and foremost, she loved her family, and sang their praises to her friends and acquaintances. She enjoyed attending her great grandchildren’s activities and spending time at Bear Pond.

She is survived by her son, Bruce and daughter-in-law, Gloria, of Auburn; daughter, Dawn Goddard of Portland; granddaughters, Jennifer and husband, Phil Crowell, of Auburn, and Wendy and husband, Shane Taylor, of Winthrop; five great-grandchildren, Megan, Jonah, Devyn, Erica and Courtney; and six nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters.
