New vehicle
What happened: Commissioners voted unanimously to accept a $43,895 bid from Goodwin Chevrolet Buick for a 2017 Chevrolet Suburban.
What it means: Oxford County Sheriff Wayne Gallant said Goodwin Chevrolet was the only dealership in the area that has a transport vehicle for eight passengers. The money will come from the Oxford County Jail vehicle reserve account. County Administrator Scott Cole said there was $67,402 in the account.
Part-time officer
What happened: Commissioners voted 2-0 to appoint Auburn Police Department officer Joseph Correia as a part-time deputy.
What it means: Gallant said Correia has all of his certifications, worked full-time in Auburn and lives in Norway. He said Correia would be a good fit with the Sheriff’s Office. Commission Chairman Timothy Turner and Commissioner David Duguay voted in favor of Correia’s appointment; Commissioner Steven Merrill abstained from voting because his is a distant relative to Correia.
