WATERVILLE — Maine State Police say no one is hurt after a plane flipped over while landing in Waterville.

The 37-year-old pilot, Keith Deschambeault of Rangeley, was flying a 1978 two-seater biplane that got into trouble after touching down Sunday. He told police a strong tail wind pushed the plane off the runway, then the plane’s propeller then hit the surface, causing it to tip over.

State Police Sgt. Blaine Bronson says Deschambeault described the plane flipping as being “in slow motion.” A licensed commercial pilot with 18 years of experience, he says this was his first accident. Deschambeault was alone in the plane.

Officials say the propeller was bent and the plane showed a few dents. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.
