FARMINGTON — Thelma L. Verrill, 87, of Minot died Wednesday, April 19, at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington.

She was born in South Paris on Aug. 11, 1929, a daughter of Elwood and Harriet (Gowell) Verrill.

Thelma was a graduate of Buckfield High School and employed in life by PEMCO Manufacturing and Wilner Wood Heel and MECON Manufacturing, later retiring from Mechanic Falls Adult Education. She attended Minot Corner Methodist Church and was part of the Susanna Wesley Circle at church. 

Thelma enjoyed gardening, walking and Sunday picnics and rides with family; she also loved animals. She was a great caregiver for her father in his late years at the farm. Thelma was always ready to lend a helping hand to family and friends and always had that big smile she extended to everyone.

She is survived by sister, Erma Thorndike of Farmington; nieces, Wendy Pomeroy of Wilton, Cheryl Roux and husband, Greg, of Carrabassett Valley, Lillian Whiting and husband, Jim, of Poland, Virginia Roberts and husband, Homer, of Mechanic Falls; and nephew, Elwood Strout and his wife, Deborah, of Minot. Also surviving are several great-nieces and -nephews.

Thelma was predeceased by her parents; sister, Gladys Strout; brothers-in-law, Vernon Strout and Victor Thorndike; a niece, Vicki Thorndike; and Greg Cowallis.

The family would like to extend thanks to all caregivers at Pinewood Terrace in Farmington for their attention and care over the past few months, as well as Androscoggin Home and Hospice and the doctors and nurses at Franklin Memorial Hospital for their attention and help in taking care of Thelma (Auntie).
