AUBURN — Fostering personal growth and curiosity, the Lewiston-Auburn Senior College and the Auburn Public Library continues the Curious Minds Series with a lecture by local historian and author John Henderson discussing the Irish of the Androscoggin.
The free program will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, at in the Androscoggin Community Room.
Henderson, author of “The Androscoggin Irish,” will explore the Irish origins of those who settled locally, their neighborhoods, what they did for work and where they worshipped. In an expanded edition of his first book, Henderson has widened his research to cover the Irish in towns such as Lisbon, Minot, Poland, Wales, Leeds, and Greene. New topics include Irish women, newspapers, John Murphy homes, theater, the military, and more.
Every spring the Lewiston-Auburn Senior College and the Auburn Public Library partner to bring a free lecture series to the community. The lectures cover a variety of topics and run on a weekly basis throughout the month of April and May. Upcoming programs can be found by visiting the Auburn Public Library website.
