NEW GLOUCESTER — Voters will be asked to approve 37 warrant articles at the annual town meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 1, at Memorial School on Route 231.
Among them is a marijuana ordinance and a term limits ordinance for selectmen.
Voter registration begins at 6:30 p.m.
Voters will be asked to raise $3.06 million, with revenues expected to total $2.12 million.
Voters will be asked to adopt an ordinance banning retail marijuana establishments and retail marijuana social clubs in New Gloucester. A six-month extension of a moratorium of such businesses expires in November.
An ordinance to establish term limits for the Board of Selectmen would limit members to three consecutive terms. After an absence of at least three years, a former selectman could hold office again.
Amendments to the zoning ordinance include streamlining the development review process and a new subsection pertaining to notification of abutters of new commercial uses and conversions under Planning Board site review.
Another adds a new subsection to the importation of materials for processing. It would require Planning Board review for bringing demolition debris, stumps, tires, asphalt and other waste from an outside location.
Finally, an amendment would change the zone of a property at 37 Peacock Hill Road from rural residential to the upper village district.
