AUBURN — Jerome L. Young, age 57, of Lewiston died Friday, April 21, at Androscoggin Hospice House, after a long and courageous battle with prostate cancer.

He was born in Baltimore, Md. Jerry is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bonnie Langdon Young; two children, Jerome (Lee) Young (wife, Crissy Bunch) and Joseph Young (wife, Jewell Young); as well as a daughter at heart, Crystal Gail Ballance; and his father, Lester Thomas Young; mother, Beverly Margaret Enders; sisters, Sharon Johnson and Patty Arnold; and brother, Bill Young. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Alina, April, Bobby, Curtis, Dallas, Declan, Dom, Langdon and Thomas.

Jerry joined the U.S. Navy in 1979 and retired in 2000, receiving multiple military honors in his 21 years of service.

After the military, Jerry went on to be a civilian contractor and eventually moved to Lewiston, where he spent his days restoring the Lockheed Super Star Constellation Aircraft at the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport.

Jerry was loved by many, at home, at work and with all he knew and met. He was always the first to offer help and of course offer a good ribbing between friends. He was an avid fisherman, on the water, on a boat or on a dock was one of his favorite places to be, besides his love of being with his family. He was an avid sports fan, with his favorite teams, Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles. He shared this love with his children and grandchildren.
