LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women has announced its May programming. All morning programs are from 10 to 11:30 a.m. unless otherwise noted.
Ali’s Big Win: Tuesday, May 2. The Center will host Ali Rabideau, Bates College student, who interned during the summer of 2016. She will share her thesis and big win of the entrepreneur contest at Bates.
Gardening and Lunch: Wednesday, May 3. A light lunch will be provided for all women who help prepare the gardens with compost.
Peasant Pantry Café: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4. The Peasant Pantry Café features one-pot sustainable meals from different countries. This month, the dish will be a Nigerian dish called Jollof Iyan (rice and yams). The meal is open to the public at no charge. Donations are welcome.
Book-Making: Tuesday, May 9. The Center will host Sarah Shepley in creating beautiful books by crafting unique art paper.
Relaxation and Breathing: Wednesday, May 10. The Center will host Leigh, of Chill Yoga, to share relaxation and breathing techniques to relieve stress and promote relaxation.
What’s Cooking?: Wednesdays, May 10, 17, and 24. The Center will provide ingredients for guests to cook and create a healthy delicious meal.
Women’s Healing Circle: Thursdays, May 11, 18, and 25. The Center will continue to host Dr. Maryam Mermay, as she leads a circle intended for women seeking to heal the loss of a loved one, a relationship, an ability, a home, the loss of a sense of self, or any other sources of grief through a life-giving and playful connection with the arts.
Kitchen Give Away Trivia Games: Tuesday, May 16. The Center will host trivia games with kitchenware prizes.
Secrets, Why Keep Them?: Tuesday, May 23. The Center will discuss why keeping secrets may not be good for health and peace of mind.
Clothing Giveaway: Thursday, May 25. The center will hold a clothing giveaway during a day-long event.
Singing Circle: 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 25. Participants will sing empowering songs with sisters, followed by a simple shared meal.
Bingo: Tuesday, May 30.
Art Van: Wednesday, May 31.
May Birthday Celebration: 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 31. May birthdays will be celebrated.
The Center’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Fridays. All women are welcome; programs are offered free and no appointments are needed. Oatmeal breakfasts are available daily, and the center has a shower.
The Center will be closed Monday, May 29, for the Memorial Day Holiday.
