Franklin County Democrats to meet

FARMINGTON — The FCDC will hold its monthly meeting from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, May 7, at the Mallett School, 116 Middle St.

The speaker will be Ann Woloson of Maine Equal Justice Partners. MEJP are dedicated to finding solutions to poverty and improving the lives of people with low income in Maine.

Cemetery group to elect officers

MEXICO — The annual meeting of the Farrington Morton Cemetery Association will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, May 8, in the Mexico Congregational Church conference room.

Election of Officers and other pertinent business will be on the agenda

Anyone owning a lot in the cemetery or a member of the association and welcome to attend.

ASCEA annual meeting May 8

LISBON FALLS — The Androscoggin-Sagadahoc Counties Extension Association will hold its annual meeting and elect new officers at 6 p.m. Monday, May 8, at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension office, 24 Main St.

The meeting is open to the public and will include presentations by UMaine Extension educators Tori Jackson and Kristy Ouellette, and Extension Eat Well community education assistant Ruth Cyr.

A catered dinner will follow the meeting.

The ASCEA is actively recruiting new members. In partnership with UMaine Extension staff, the members of each county association assist with providing input on local educational programming needs and oversee the county budget appropriations that support Extension educational programs for county residents.

PTO seeks sale vendors, donations

OXFORD — Oxford Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization’s community yard, craft and bake sale will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 20, at the school bus loop. Free to attend.

Cost for a yard sale space is $10; cost for a vendor/craft space is $15. Table set up will be from 7 to 8: 30 a.m. Unwanted items may also be donated to the PTO table.

All funds raised will be used to renovate the school teacher’s lounge.

Historical Society opens archives

OTISFIELD — The Otisfield Historical Society will open from 2 to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Nov. 1 at 53 Bell Hill Road.

One of the two archivists, Jean Hankins or Ethel Turner, will be on hand to retrieve documents, maps, letters, and artifacts for researchers.

The paper documents in the archives date back to before 1800 and can shed light on events and individuals in the town. The photo archives have pictures and other information on nearly every building existing in Otisfield in the year 2000.

For access, users are asked to proceed down the back stairs and to knock on the archives room door. All are welcome, including those seeking information and those who simply want to talk about town history.

The archivists are willing to make special arrangements to open the archives, if Wednesday afternoons are not convenient.
