PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — MSGT Carl Barclay Walton Sr., USAF (Ret.), 83, of Portsmouth, N.H., died Wednesday, April 19, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, following a period of failing health.

Born in Lewiston on Oct. 24, 1933, he was the son of Edgar W. and Lois (Barclay) Walton.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Walton of Portsmouth, N.H.; his sister, Carol Robinson and her husband, Conrad, of Minot; daughter, Carina Ellis and her husband, Shawn, of Bethlehem, Ga.; son, Carl B. Walton Jr. of Clearwater, Fla.; daughter, Stephanie Rideout and her husband, John, of Buford, Ga.; son, Brent Taylor of Portsmouth, N.H.; son, John E. Walton of Solomon, Kan.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandsons.

He was predeceased by his parents, Edgar W. and Lois Walton; brother, Edgar W. Walton Jr.; and daughter, Michelle Thompson.

MSGT Walton was a 1952 graduate of Edward Little High School in Auburn. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and proudly served his country for 26 years, retiring in 1978 at Pease Air Force Base, N. H. After retirement, he began working for United Technologies’ Pratt-Whitney in South Berwick until June 1997.

MSGT Walton was a past commander of the VFW- Post 168 of Portsmouth, past commander of the American Legion Frank E Booma — Post 6 of Portsmouth, president of the Central Veterans Council of Portsmouth, N.H. for 15 years., commander of the 40 & 8 Honor Society of the American Legion, commander of the Military Order of the Cooties of New Hampshire, member of the DAV Chapter 4 in Newington.
