YARMOUTH — A three-run bottom of the fourth helped Yarmouth to a 4-2 victory over Poland in a WMC baseball contest on Monday.
The Clippers manufactured their runs to break a 1-1 tie heading into the fourth. The first run came frome a squeeze. Then John Thoma singled home the second run. The third came on a pass ball.
Noah Salmons scored both of the Knights’ (2-4) runs, one each in the first and the sixth innings.
The Clippers found themselves in a jam in the sixth. Poland loaded bases with one out, but Brady Downing’s hard-hit line drive that seemed destined for center field was caught by the second baseman, who was playing up middle. He completed the double play by stepping on second base.
Downing did have a double in the contest for the Knights.
