JAY — Terry L. Nichols, 65, of Jay died at his home Monday, May 1, with his loving family by his side, after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer.

He was born Sept. 29, 1951, in Lewiston, the son of Vern Nichols and Eloise (Grant) Nichols. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School in 1970, then enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving a three-year tour in Vietnam. After returning home, he married his high school sweetheart, Irene Lauzier, on Oct. 27, 1973, at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. They made their home in Jay, raising their two children and enjoying grandchildren, family and friends.

He loved camping and going to the races. Terry first worked at Livermore Shoe then became an over-the-road trucker for 30 years. He was a member of the Canton Masonic Lodge, Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston, the Frank L. Mitchell VFW Post 3335 in Jay, and the George Bunton Post 10 in Livermore Falls.

Survivors include his loving wife, Irene Nichols, of Jay; his daughter, Kelly King and her husband, Scott, of Livermore; son, Jason Nichols and his wife, Stephanie, of Jay; grandchildren, Tyler King and his wife, Samantha, of Gray, Kallie King of East Livermore, Brooke Osgood and her husband, Spencer, of California, Nathaniel Steele of Jay, and Jakob and Brady Nichols of Jay; his brother, Douglas Nichols and companion, Trudy Bishop; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his father, Vern Nichols; his mother, Eloise Nichols Brackett; and his beloved dog, Abby.
